About the Chair

The use of technical aids has been a strategy to support the independence and self determination of people with disabilities since a long time. It is therefore one of the intervention strategies in rehabilitation.

Modern technologies, particularly the computer and information technology offer many options. The orientation to solve the challenges of daily life requires the reha team, to consider not only service provison but also other issues and implications of technical aids. It is important, to prepare the application in a professional way, to provide individual adaptations and to support the user in the process.

The chair of rehabilitation technology deals with the application of modern technologies for people with disabilities. Besides classical technical aids also aspects of barrier free access to products and services and universal design are to be considered. Within these areas new educational courses and research activities are set up.
